Theresa's 5 SKin Care Myths Debunked

4/26/2019

As you sort through managing a good skin care routine, you’re not always equipped with the correct information. So I decided to tackle a handful of common myths that you might encounter in your quest for beautiful, healthy-looking skin.  I commonly get asked about these topics:

 Myth #1
Natural or Organic is better.  Let's be real clear on this, saying natural does not make it better, safer or more effective.   Poison Ivy is natural, Would you put that all over your face?  Organic for food is not the same as organic for your skin care. Many people often confuse natural or organic for safe/non-toxic, and synthetic as harmful/toxic. This is false. . Don’t get fooled by this marketing tactic.

Myth #2
Aging is genetic.  Only 20% of visible skin aging comes from the natural aging process.  The rest comes from environmental and lifestyle factors like:  sun damage, pollution and your lifestyle (stress, smoking, diet, lack of sleep)

Myth #3
Only older women need anti-aging.  The best way to battle aging is to take preventative measures!  You can (and probably should ) use anti aging skin care products as early as your 20's.

Myth #4
Don't moisturize oily skin.  This couldn't be farther from the truth.  Oily skin needs to hydrated too.  In fact, if you are not moisturizing oily skin, it could be producing excess oil to make up for the lack of moisture.  Just choose the correct moisturizer for your skin type!

Myth #5
Coconut Oil is a good moisturizer. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It actually clogs your pores!

I hope I helped clear up some false information that is circulating out there.
